On Behalf of Seeds is printed in celebration of Cecilia Vicuña’s reading at the University of Arizona Poetry Center and the exhibition Sonoran Quipu at MOCA Tucson. Printed by Karen Zimmermann at the University of Arizona.
The imagery in this print depicts Cecilia Vicuna holding Chilean palm seeds she gave to poet W.S. Merwin, as well as drawings from Carlos Muñoz Pizarro’s 1971 book Chile: Plantas en Extinción. The print originally appeared in Vicuña’s 1997 book QUIPOem.
MOCA Tucson’s mission is to inspire new ways of thinking through the cultivation, exhibition, and interpretation of contemporary art. Established by artists in 1997, MOCA is Tucson’s only museum devoted exclusively to contemporary art from around the globe. Click here to learn more about the museum.
